Dear Members,
May is officially designated as “Older Americans Month”. I guess it’s important to have a particular month to rally around, to bring attention to elderly issues, to make proclamations and plan a bunch of activities celebrating the event. I believe it is our mission to educate the general public on the importance of our Center. I am continually amazed to meet people from Middletown community who have never been to our Center. They have driven by but have never stopped in to check us out. I am out in the community often meeting with organizations, businesses, service groups, etc. telling the Center’s story ,and in many cases, dispelling believes that many have of the Center.
I am but one voice in spreading the good news of the Center. I need your help.
First, please mention to others what you enjoy doing at the Center and why you are a member. Secondly, if you are a member of organization, etc. that would allow a speaker to make a presentation at a meeting, please let me know. I and others are putting together a speakers bureau for the Center to make such presentations. Thirdly, we know that people usually visit and become members from the invitations of you ,our members.
One of our goals is to increase membership this year. As an incentive, we will give a free year membership to you if you bring 3 new people to join the Center between May and December 31st., 2012
Let’s celebrate Older Americans Month :
· by continuing to enjoy the programs, the activities, and the friends we have and have made at the Center.
· by spreading the good news of the Center and letting others know what they are missing.
· by making a difference in someone’s life.
